A Cradle in the Dirt [Christmas Letter]

Dear friends and family,

A Cradle in the Dirt

One of my favourite worship songs is called King of Kings. The first verse tells the  incarnation story in a powerful way:

Rembrandt, 1646

In the darkness we were waiting
Without hope without light
Till from heaven You came running
There was mercy in Your eyes
To fulfil the law and prophets

To a virgin came the Word
From a throne of endless glory
To
a cradle in the dirt

~Words and Music by Jason Ingram, Brooke Ligertwood & Scott Ligertwood

This song encapsulates the Father’s love for His children—full of mercy, embodied in the person of Jesus. May this love go far and wide and may families know the restoration power of the Gospel in fresh ways this coming year. Another line from the song presents an invitation to return to the Father’s family:

For the souls of all who’d come
To the Father are restored

What a beautiful picture that conveys how the Father works to bring us into right relationship with Him through Christ!

2023 Highlights

This year has been one of big change and transition for our family. My parents and our family found a house for us all to move into together. That is a big adjustment in itself, but it also has been a huge blessing as we all get to share so many memories together. Of course, God has put it on my heart to branch out and start ministry with FamilyLife Canada and that has been exciting to say the least. Daphne has been putting in great work with Salvation Army and was recently hired at Bluewater Church also to head up Bluewater’s helps ministry. Sonora entered her final year of high school and is experiencing the school application phase! She’s loving kickboxing and music ministry with her church youth ministry. Selah is still all about books. She’s been developing a love for piano and all things crafts such as crochet. She loves babies and nursery ministry. Josiah loves his “Friday guys” at Bluewater Church, working out, basketball and wrestling.

Sharing the Hope

As we celebrate the greatest gift of Jesus Christ entering the world to be our Saviour, would you consider becoming a partner with me so we can help more families move toward Christ’s light of hope? We long for His reconciliation. We wait for the promise of full restoration. Partnering is as simple as:

  • praying
    • for quickly establishing the partnership team
    • for families to truly know the wholeness found in Christ
    • for God’s strength on this development journey
  • collaborating
    • explore strategy with me for establishing and expanding ministry reach
  • sharing this vision with others
  • giving $150 monthly (or an amount that works for your budget) using my ministry page: p2c.sh/bourque

Merry Christmas,

Steve, Daphne, Sonora, Josiah and Selah Bourque (and Jaxx!)
