What messages are you really sending?

Getting to the Heart
Parenting instincts often produce reactions to conflict situations that send messages of frustration, hopelessness or power and control. Parents today are under massive pressure as indicated in this recent report from the US Surgeon General.
This weekend I’ll be meeting with leaders, then teaching a Discipline that Connects With Your Child’s Heart workshop. One of the elements of that workshop is exploring the question, “What’s going on in me?” when addressing a child’s misbehaviour. From this question, we explore how our own internal struggle comes out and may communicate messages different than what we intend.
Doing this heart work helps us move from sending messages that cripple wisdom building toward developing grace-filled and truth-filled beliefs in the heart of our child.
“For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” ~Matthew 12:34
Generational Impact
Consider what this mom had to say about the impact of this workshop:
“We changed from a control and fear-based home, to a grace-filled and loving home.” ~Michelle, Mom of Five
What if instead of reacting impulsively, we responded thoughtfully? What if we moved from just surviving at home toward flourishing and then building kids who live on mission for generations to come? We absolutely can grow into this mindset. We can make an intentional, daily effort to send the messages of Gospel hope into the hearts of our kids.
Would you like to bring this workshop to your church or group? Let’s connect!
(Would you like to become a financial partner for the long-term sustainability and far-reaching impact of this ministry? Let’s meet!)
Let’s work together to equip more parents and more families with real hope, practical help and proven wisdom.
